The DCH Tree Program also reviews requests for publicly-funded street tree planting or maintenance. This is most effectively accomplished by involving your civic association and local legislators to develop a neighborhood street tree project (see DEHORT.org > Become a Tree Steward). Depending on the funding source, tree projects generally take anywhere from 12-24 months to plan, develop, fund, and implement, but the process of making your neighborhood a safer, more beautiful, and cooler place to live is extremely rewarding.
